Why Therapy?
Signs of distress are not always obvious.
Some distress signals to look for are:
• Feelings of loneliness, moodiness, sadness, failure
• Feelings of stress, anxiety, panic, fear
• Difficulties with anger, hostility or violence
• Difficulties talking with a partner, children, parents, in-laws
• Difficulties with friendships or work relationships
• Persistent conflict in any important relationship
• Problems with a child’s or adolescent’s behavior or school adjustment
• Sexual problems or concerns
• Difficulty sleeping or unexplainable fatigue
• Difficulty expressing emotion
• Inability to concentrate
• Persistent health problems (primary health care provider consulted)
• Poor academic performance or difficulty setting and reaching goals
• Family stress due to chronic illness and/or caregiving
• Problems with alcohol or drugs
• Drastic weight fluctuations or irregular eating patterns
• Addictive or compulsive behaviors
• Persistent feelings of dissatisfaction
